1/4oz TSS / 1oz Steel

Postby manchap » Tue Sep 12, 2017 11:38 am

Hi Having had this Tss 4s for years sat doing Jack in my reloading shed i am woundering if it would be ok to put 1/4oz of TSS 4s under 1oz of steel Bs ?,
I know ive been told 4 TSS is good for deer/coyote ,(we dont have yotes in the uk lol) and cant shoot deer with shotguns.
i just thought of using it up pointless just sat there looking at me wanting to be fired off.

The load is a 1 1/4 steel load i normaly use , Now would i need to alter anything ie powder charge ? he wad is strong enough for Tss with it been a Baschieri & Pellagri BPs35 , Eley " Case/Hull , crimp finish

Many thanks

The rule of thumb is that you can take a steel recipe and use some TSS in the load as long as you don't go over the total payload weight. You'll have room to fill, and what you use and where you place it will make a difference. #4 TSS is pretty big and you'll want to make sure your wad will handle it OK.

Thank you Hal ,
The are used to HW13 so hopefully they be good ? I might need a 20g felt packer under shot ?

Probably OK on the wads. You'll have to decide whether to put the felt under or over the shot. Under the shot will likely reduce the speed and psi some.
