Last year we went offshore for some spear fishing and about 17 miles off we had large rafts of blue wings just resting. Almost looked like Blue bills hanging out. I have never seen anything like that. I wish we would have had a camera to take some pictures. Have you guys ever seen that where they are out in the middle of the "Slat" water like that. I know they migrate all the way down to Cuba and South America so crossing water has to happen. Every raft we saw they were pretty close to floating vegetation. That part of Florida has tidal rafts of vegetation.. I can see them feeding on this grass ect but where are they getting fresh water way out there... Or do they need fresh water at all i wonder? I know some sea ducks don't need fresh water but teal i would think so. Anyway im excited to get in the field watching the sun come up being buzzed by these little fighter pilots
