12Ga TSS Reloads (Waterfowl)

Postby Ben.Ripple » Mon Nov 22, 2021 4:39 pm

Dear Forum,

I recently acquired some #9 TSS shot, & plan on reloading it for duck hunting.

However, I need some help figuring out the right powder to use.

I am well educated with reloading clay pigeon & target loads, but I haven't made TSS rounds before.

Can someone help steer me in the right direction on the following questions.

1) I would like to reload 3/4oz loads, do you know what kind of spacers I need, or what wad# for 12ga 2-3/4" shells?
2) What powder & # of grains for a 3/4oz or 1oz load?
3) Is shot buffer & a shot vibrator necessary for waterfowl loads? (Not turkey)

Thank you to anyone that can answer any of these, or point me in the right direction to dial in my duck & goose loads. Once step at a time, but my next step will be loading #7 TSS goose loads.

Reloading recipes are usually given to you from the person you bought your TSS shot from. I doubt you will find anyone willing to give recipe details on this forum ;) The biggest help I can suggest is for you to find a published fast steel load recipe .... and substitute some TSS for Steel .... and then play around with it some to get the results you are looking for. I highly recommend you send your load off to be pressure tested before shooting it in the field :D
