20g Star Crimp

Postby weatherby » Tue Nov 02, 2021 2:38 pm

Hey fellas, hope everyone is have a great hunting season. I tried searching the forum for a discussion on roll vs star crimp and I couldn't find anything. I would imagine pressures would change, has anyone tried it? In one of my recipes I use a 3/16 to 1/8 felt over my shot to fill the gap on a 1oz full TSS load #8.5. If I took out the felt overshot filler and the overshot card it would leave me enough room for an adequate star crimp, which sure would save a lot of time.

you're right it does change the pressure

typically, in lead, if moving from roll to star (sinned) you'd drop powder by 1gr and vice versa; however, it also depends if you just fold the crimp or spin it over
