20 Gauge TPS wad slits 2 3/4"

I'm wondering what the rule of thumb is on the slit depth on TPS wads? This is for turkey hunting your TSS #9 shot and is mylar necessary on TPS 20 gauge wads?

The default slit for me is 4 slits, down to the last ring above the vents. But one beautiful thing about loading your own is you have the ability to do what gives you the patterns you like.

As for mylar, I don't believe it's required for that wad.
