Roll crimping

Postby Mkeller72 » Tue Oct 13, 2020 9:59 am

Can I roll crimp my shells I am loading on recipes that call for regular crimp? I do not have a 20 or 28 gauge reloaded to crimp my shells but have purchased roll crimp tools. Will it lower the loads pressure or raise the shells pressure? I would think it would lower due to not as much force needed to open the crimp.

I routinely roll crimp 28 ga recipes that call for a fold crimp - and they do well. I think typically the psi and fps is lowered some, depending on the recipe.

Concur. I would expect pressure to be less in all cases, so long as you are using correct hull length and NOT cutting them down at all.
