Hello from former full time hunter and story telle

Postby HamBones » Tue Oct 13, 2020 9:53 am

New to the board and TSS. I’m a long time hand loader (rifle, shotgun) trying out the new tech. I couldn’t help but come across the board here when searching For the topic of TSS/Duplex load data. I’ll be here reading what’s been posted before posting. My plan is to load 12ga 3” or even 3.5” duplex for large ducks and large geese to get the most bang for the buck. Looking for best use of $ rather than 100% TSS loads that seem pretty costly.

A 3" 1.25 oz load is all you need. .25 oz of TSS under 1.0 oz of steel in a 1.125 oz wad.

I’m not a particularly handsome man, so I’m trying to keep the exploding guns near my face to a minimum by following the steel load data as closely as the Lyman book warns to. I’m lucky to have married out of my league. The information I’m seeing is to just spike a steel load by replacing 20 or so percent of the steel shot with TSS. Is there a limit to how much I can add before the pressures change? I’m guessing from the loads I’ve seen here that .25oz is the max I need for pattern density and a minimal change to the chamber pressure. Is that correct in these duplex loads?

That is correct HB.
