Lots of info on this board about spiking steel shot with tss. Several guys on here have a lot of experience with it. What are you looking to do? Ducks or geese? 12 ga or 20?

You probably want to start with #9 TSS and use .25 oz of it in a shell. TSS goes on the bottom of the wad. The rest is steel shot. I use #10 TSS with 4 steel, #9 TSS with 2 steel, and #8 TSS with BB.
If you use a 1 1/8 oz capacity wad, you can fit a 1 1/4 oz load of duplexed shot. Use a recipe for a 1 1/4 load but substitute a 1 1/8 oz wad of the same style. You may have to play around with 1/32 oz of steel to get a good crimp. All killer, no filler. I invented that phrase for this concept.

I use the same principal as Paul. I shoot a 20 gauge with .7 oz of #5 steel and .3 of #8 tss. Use the same load from teal to giant Canada's just for simplicity.
