Trying to decide which load to go with for my 28ga Browning BPS. I have Hal's recipes for both 3/4 and 7/8 oz 28ga loads. And I have 7# 11oz of #7.5TSS on hand. I have pattern tested the 3/4oz loads, at 30 yards, and they are Factory Full choke flush: 95-10", 55-10/20", 2-20/30" . Total of 152 in 30" circle. Factory IC choke flush: 48-10", 64-10/20", 32-20/30". Total of 144 in the 30" circle. Almost all shots would be within 40 yards. I am thinking that 3/4oz would be enough although 7/8oz is temping. This will be a spring hunt in MN...if the plan works out. I have not done any duck or goose hunting in over 55 years so......... Opinions?

Hello Carl,
7.5's should be plenty large for snow geese and with patterns you are throwing, either load should be good. I have loaded a few cases of duplex TSS/steel and straight TSS for light goose spring hunt next year and I'm excited to field test. Hal knows some guys that were shooting long range snows with 8.5 TSS and claiming excellent results. Good luck!
Sincerely,
James

You're in good shape with the 3/4 oz through the IC choke I'd say.

Thanks for the replies. I felt that 3/4oz would be good enough, but having been a dove/quail only guy for so many years, plus being a newcomer to the TSS world, I guess I needed some support.
It was 30F this morning at 7AM and the frost IS covering the ground. First heavy frost of the fall. We normally get around 200" of snow each winter, so everyone wants the fall colors to last as long as possible. Looks like a good time to start loading up those 3/4oz #7.5TSS loads.
