Henry lever action .410
Just tried one of these new lever .410s today and it throws amazingly dense patterns with 24 inch barrel. Sadly, only handles 2.5 inch shells. Sure wish we had a recipe for that shell with tungsten 18!! It is a solid 30 yard turkey killer now with high brass Winchester #4s.

what components would you want to use?
Roll with it. If you stay above 55 the wheel wont fall off.

Any componants that would stay within the 2.5 inch length so that the action would function properly. I was thinking # 9 shot.

Re: Henry lever action .410
Finally took the time to work up (carefully) a 2.5 inch load for Henry with 1/2 oz. # 9s. Very impressed. 100 % at 40 yards. Very even pattern. 20 + in head and neck in anotomically correct target of turkey head. Pretty sure I've found my grandson's load and maybe mine...

Nice to see its possible, I really did not like how Henry handicapped this gun with 2.5 shells only. I see how the lever action could be a limiting factor but I'm sure the good guys at Henry can work around it.

Re: Henry lever action .410
Going over to the next town tomorrow to pick up a Henry Repeating Arms .410 lever gun tomorrow. It will also be the 24" Bbl model. I like the fact that it uses the Browning Invector choke system. Glad to see someone has done some actual patterning with one. Thanks. Coydog, was the 1/2oz of #9s TSS or Pb?
The 45/70 empty case is 2.25" long. Loaded 45/70 max length is 2.91" according to cartridges of the world. The .410 is made using the 45/70 action. I believe this is the reason for the 2.5" shell limit.
With TSS a whole new world has opened up for the 2.5" .410 shell.
I do not have an actual need for one, but I do have a actual WANT for one. It is a sad disease.
Picked up the HRAC .410 lever action shotgun today. Now the fun begins.
