Very first TSS load, 1 5/8 oz of no 8 1/2. Turkey load shot with an old Auto-5 2 3/4 chamber. Choked flush at 0.68,
Shot offhand with bead sight. 22 pellets in brain/spine and 197 in 10 inch circle. Hal's formula would give 60 yd range and I am happy with that even though I did notice that others have patterned tighter. TSS is amazing. My 1 7/8 commercial lead load of no 4 would also kill but with typically only 4 pellets at that distance. Do I need this? No. is it worth i? Hell YES! Thanks, Hal.

Re: First TSS load
That will work! I would play around and see if you can get a pattern you like a little better. Different loads and components can make a difference. I've played with these loads and patterned them all last off season found 1 i was okay with.. Im still trying to find that one I like.

Re: First TSS load
I agree, my next test is to try an extended choke, first loosening up just a bit, and then choking down til I over-choke it.

Oh, and I am also going to back off on the payload a bit. I was shooting 500 pellets and only 200 in the circle. I may do better with a lighter load.

Re: First TSS load
Now I am getting somewhere. Loaded 1 1/4 oz of 8.5 (approx. 375 pellets), I get 100 in a 10 inch circle at 40 yd and ALL pellets in a 20 inch circle. The entire 20 inch circle is a positive kill zone. Very forgiving for shooting up to 40 yds with a very soft-kicking load. Best choke was a flush mount 0.68 in my Auto-5. The same load with T shot (30 pellets) puts 20 in a 10 inch circle at 40 yd. BTW I also did a penetration test though layers of plywood, and TSS T penetrated the same as copper plated 00 buck.
